過去(歴史)の"奴隷"になるより、未来の御者になろう

My Opinion on "Apology” By Taro Chicago LinkedIn Aug. 26, 2013
I am very hesitant to state my opinion on history until I feel comfortable, as common value changes by pass of time, and the subject of war is very uncomfortable as common values are denied at war.

For some who may not realize, in the last century Japan had not been in war with Korea and Korea was annexed by Japan during 1910~ 1945 since Japan won war with Soviet Union in 1904-5. Because of size, Soviet was regarded as the giant threat if she had taken Korea.

Even before annexation of Korea, Japanese administrator published an order to prohibit brutal interrogations practiced by Korean police as being too extreme in 1907, I believe.

It was very difficult to position Koreans, annexed by Japan, were Japanese or not. Since the country disappeared, the people were at least under Japanese control and many chose to become Japanese. Some Korean joined Japanese military as Japanese during The Pacific War.
It was reported Korean government after Japanese surrender had wished to join in US side, which was declined by the allied.

As for comfort women,(or camp follower of old terms)  an interrogation  report was released at US National Archive, might be of your interest which reported on selected 22 women ( 20 Korean and 2 Japanese) .http://texas-daddy.com/comfortwomen.htm, APO689, with Japanese also.

Regardless of dissemination or not of history on comfort women, as for validity of annexation, J. Crawford a Cambridge Professor stated in early time of the last century " it was very common before the WW1, and not necessarily illegal."

I know what I believe; it is not a sound way to raise and educate children to hate a neighbor country, for purpose of money or not, which has half million of Korean people. Nor is it sound policy for Japan to keep apologizing on the unproven matter, which could accumulate anger of her own people. We can not build a sound country just hating the other, as it will enslave herself of the past, instead master of the future.

Unique article by K. Kuroda, Sankei Shinbun appeared on Aug.24; <Instead of Korean recommending Japan to learn from Germany, Korean can learn from Germany>. He added Austria was annexed by Germany for 6 years during WWII, fought against Allied and expressed apology to Allied after the war.

Ref;book translated "Mirror for Americans: JAPAN' written by Helen Mears in 1949, could be a bit too neutral. An old book sited frequently; By Isabella Bird "Korean and her Neighbors", New
"A New Look at The Annexation of Korea" by Society of Dissemination of Historical Fact"

歴史の奴隷になるよりは、未来の御者になろう。
